Since several years, WattElse has been working on the development of Sivry wind farm situated in Hainaut Province in Belgium. Composed of 4 wind turbines totalling a capacity of 10 MW, the construction of this project will begin in 2018. The wind turbines will produce electricity for approximately 6000 households, which will cover the total consumption of citizens in Sivry-Rance.

WattElse has been involved to each stage of the project from the site selection to the irrevocable permit granting. This project was previously owned by Yard Energy (former KDE Energy Belgium). Recently, this project was taken over by EDPR which is one of the world leader in the wind energy sector. This company will proceed to the construction and operation of the project. With its knowledge of the local context, the stakeholders and the issues inherent to any wind project, WattElse will provide its expertise in development, management and communication. The commissioning of the park should take place at the beginning of 2019.

Together with the municipality of Sivry-Rance and in accordance with EDPR’s line of conduct, WattElse will also organize the establishment of a citizen financing structure to enable the inhabitants of the region to benefit from the project’s outcome. In practice, a crowdfunding campaign will be launched at spring 2018.
